Last year my sister decided to give me three bits of advice:
1. Stop wearing ponytails, and leave my hair down.
2. Wear more dresses.
3. Stop wearing pants!
That's right- my sister gave me a pants intervention. I had been abusing jeans and tracksuits for far too long, hiding and restricting my legs with unflattering bottoms for no good reason. It’s difficult to find a style that will fit and flatter, or is the right leg length for me. So I gave up and stuck with whatever was adequate.
I’ve gone four months abstaining from pants, so that means wearing a lot of skirts, shorts and leggings (because leggings are not pants) but as the weather turns colder, I feel myself slipping. I’m already eyeing my pants, thinking about how warm they must be. I know I can keep wearing dresses and skirts with hosiery when winter comes, but I caught myself buying pants last weekend anyway. Argh!
I am going to make it my mission now to find some perfectly fitting dress pants and jeans. I know I’ll be looking forever to get a good pair at a decent price. But if I’m going to fall back into my addiction, I’m going to do it right.
