I’m saving up to head back to Tauranga again, so I’m keeping my purchases low-key this month. So the first thing I got was a very luxurious Karen Farley skincare set for only $39 (usually $223). It’s completely organic, smells wonderful, and I really wish this brand was at my price range. But at least I can take advantage of this offer (which goes until March 31st) and use this skincare for special occasions.
I’ve been looking for cheap yet effective cosmetics for ages, but after wasting my money on no-name brands that are utterly useless, I’m looking for highly regarded brand name cosmetics at bargain basement prices instead. In my possession is a Smashbox Cream Eyeliner in Midnight Brown ($13.50 NZD) and Korres Lip Butter in Quince ($17 NZD) from Strawberry Net. It’s so nice having an eyeliner that doesn’t smear all over my face if I step outside and a lip colour that looks natural!
The Anna Sui hand mirror was purchased for $4 from one of the stalls at The Lantern Festival and I found a similar comb in $3 Japan (where everything is $3.50). I already have a perfectly good mirror and comb and I’m not a fan of Anna Sui but I love antique dresser sets! I might have to begrudgingly buy some of the Anna Sui accessories overseas to create my own faux-antique set.
And last but not least, I picked up the Misery pill box and the peacock earrings from a Garage Sale being held by one of the ladies who runs Pleased To Meet You. Good peacock earrings are hard to find, and ever since Misery ‘died’ anything with her artwork on it is like gold to me. As I currently have no pills to pop, I’m using the container to store my stud earrings.
My haul might seem meagre to your eyes, but I enjoyed sifting though a lot of tat and scrolling through an avalanche of websites to find these precious items. And that, my friends, has made all the difference.
