Every time I’m on the North Shore it’s always too late to visit The Department Store. So last weekend I was up early, and finally made it to Takapuna by early afternoon. I wasn’t interested in the other sections of the Department Store so we browsed quickly, then climbed to the top floor. It’s the end of the summer season here, so anything summery that I liked was the wrong size, and I didn’t want any of the autumn gear as it’s far too early to start stockpiling. The shoes were fantastic, but the ones I really wanted weren’t in my size and the rest were for nights out in the town (so useless for me). The salespeople helped me out as much as they could, they weren’t snobby and they didn’t go for the hard sell. I bought a nail set, a red lipstick, and an eyeliner pen that is almost impossible to smudge. Now I’m getting rid of all my cheap cosmetics, and I can’t wait to go back again. Maybe next time I’ll actually buy some clothes/shoes!
