A fantastic show showing the best outfits from Tiny Space, Paper Bag Princess, Fuzzy Vibes Junction and many other vintage fashion businesses on Karangahape Road. In my opinion, the stores get picked over too fast to find anything of value, but if you possess infinite patience you might find treasure!
P.S It also helps if you know the right people. Befriending an excellent store assistant could be the difference between getting that coveted piece and missing out…

So this weekend is just choc a block full of awesome events! I hope none of you are complaining about having a boring weekend, there’s lots to do in Auckland!
Newmarket is holding a four fashion shows on a 25m runway in the middle of the road between 11am-4pm on Saturday, and I’m rather intrigued to see what this little shopping suburb has to offer this winter. Outdoor shows are so nice, because it brings the fashion to the people to enjoy and admire.
P.S I am not impressed with the Newmarket flyer. That girl is seriously photo shopped. Her face is unnaturally white, her body has been ‘shrunk’, and her legs are massive and darker than the rest of her body! For shame, for shame.
Then on Sunday I have Frocks on Bikes 2012 at Shed 10. I’m not going to bring my newly purchased bike, mostly because I need more time getting used to cycling on a cruiser, and also because I haven’t had the extras installed yet. But I’ll stroll into Queens Wharf and check out the fashion shows, take a few test rides on the new urban bikes, and take a look at the various bike products they have to offer.
P.P.S If you’re into the cycling culture, check out the controversy over the frocks on bikes flyer.

{Kate Sylvester Padlock Necklace}
I might not be able to buy, let alone wear the clothing from Kate Sylvester’s ‘The Secretary’ collection, but I am eyeing up the jewellery! This one is most definitely on my wishlist. I’m usually a big fan of silver, but I’m trying to slowly introduce gold pieces as they suit my skin tone as well. But since the necklace is only electroplated gold, I won’t be clamouring to buy anytime soon. Best to wait and see if the price drops. Me? A fashion vulture? You know it.

{Caroline Sills, Celine Rita, Max Store}
Usually I don’t bother going to fashion shows. But when the opportunity is offered to me, I take it enthusiastically. It’s mostly about money than anything else. I’d rather use that $60 to buy clothing at the Designer Garage Sale than pay $60 for the privilege of viewing clothes at a runway show. But my father in law’s company are the sponsors of this years Fashion Festival, so it wasn’t too expensive at all.
And I had a blast! It was like Christmas, New Year’s Eve, Valentines, and my birthday all in one. Absolutely amazing.

{Kate Sylvester’s Lee Dress, $475 @ 47 High Street}
I’ve been deeply inspired by Kate Sylvester’s new collection, and would love to win the lottery and buy the entire collection. But everyone wants to be The Secretary and I doubt a mere peasant like myself could afford such garments even if it was on sale. Yeah yeah, first world problems…amiright?
It makes me sad to lust over unattainable objects, so I decided to take a picture instead to remind myself that some beauty is only meant to be admired from afar.
P.S Check out all the handprints at the bottom right of the shot. You can tell people have been pressing their face up to the windows, gazing in envious wonder at this beautiful silk dress…

{Inked by Adam Craft @ The Tattooed Heart}
To me, tattooing is a permanent work of art. It literally lasts a lifetime! I’m lucky enough to live in a part of the world where tattooing is part of the indigenous culture, and has transformed into a form of personal expression. I like to think of my tattoos as a personal fashion accessory that I will treasure always.
